Please note that we do not schedule any hour-long new client/first-time appointments on Saturdays (all day) or on Tuesdays after 5pm because those tend to be peak scheduling blocks and our doctors want to make sure they can spend enough time with your pet. After your initial consult visit, those times are then open for normal scheduling if you like.
On occasion, the Center may be closed for meetings, full staff travel events, Dr. Royal’s lecture schedule, or we’re simply recharging our healing batteries. No appointments will be made for those days and we always post them on the site as early as possible. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule your appointment.
New Patients (Initial Consult Appointments)
An initial, integrative treatment consult with our doctors lasts between 45 minutes to an hour and includes a both a full Western exam and Chinese traditional exam. It may also include muscle measurements and other diagnostics. We assess previous medical history, radiographs, and bloodwork, and discuss nutrition, supplements, herbs, and therapies for the owner to do at home.
Please bring any medical records, bloodwork, diagnostic testing, radiographs with you to your intial appointment. Equally important, please bring any labels from foods, supplements, as well as a complete list of medications that are being given.
We address the need for other therapies – acupuncture, underwater treadmill, massage or other treatments. Any Western medical recommendations for diagnostics or treatment will be relayed to your regular veterinarian. The initial consult may include a treatment or combination of treatments with whatever modalities are most needed. New clients may request a specific type of treatment for their appointment, but the Dr. has the final say based on the medical condition of the animal.
Subsequent appointments after the initial consult generally run about 30 minutes.
