Dr. Barbara Royal is a masterful and compassionate healer. She and her staff truly care about the animals they treat and their alternative methods saved my dog’s life – literally.
Mjiska was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy and Mega Esophagus in January of 2007. She was given six months to two years to live and after about four months she developed intestinal problems and lost eight pounds in two weeks. We thought she was going to die. Our regular vet confirmed it. Terrified, we visited Dr. Royal as a last-ditch effort.
After all, how effective could accupuncture be? Come on. A few needles are going to save my friend when she’s dropping at death’s door?
It did.
Dr. Royal took all the time we needed that first visit. She listened and we knew i t. We could tell she knew what we were talking about and understood our fears. She explained what she could do and what she couldn’t do in an honest way we really appreciated. Who wants false hope?
Remember, besides doing acupuncture and working with alternative treatments, she’s also a trained vet – with a facility that can do much of the diagnosing a regular animal hospital can.
She examined Mjiska, counselled us about her diet, some physical therapy we could do and then treated her. There wasn’t any ‘magic’ about it. She was very caring, professional, and direct. She eased our fears and her treatment saved our dog.
Literally overnight Mjiska showed improvement. Now, two and a half years later, she still plays, enjoys life, and gives us great joy.
Over that time, Dr. Royal has been a healer, an advisor, and a friend. She’s always taken the time we needed, made sure she heard us and that we understood her, and cared for Mjiska. We’re all eternally in her debt for the gift she’s given.
